4: Committing to art everyday with self-taught artist Erika Lee Sears

Erika Lee Sears is a self taught oil painter. She has exhibited work in numerous group shows across the country including the Not a Lemon show in San Francisco + the Enormous Tiny Art Show in Portsmouth NH. Erika has had two recent solo shows in her home city of Portland, her work has been featured on almost every season of the fabulous TV show Portlandia, and she has been featured in publications such as Upper Case Magazine.  She is a mommy to her daughter Nora (born 7/11/12) and Everett (born 11/11/14).

In this episode Erika and I discuss her bold shift from corporate work to becoming an artist, what it means to really commit to your art practice, her #makearteveryday project, where she finds inspiration for her work and what it’s like to work from a home studio that has taken on many forms.

Check out more of Erika’s work on her website (http://www.atinyrocket.com) and her Instagram where she posts everyday. Hope you enjoy the interview with this delightful Artist/Mother!
